We had the pleasure of working on this new build home with clients who have lived in this established Bethesda neighborhood for 30 years. From the very beginning, our clients placed full confidence in the design process and allowed us to be involved from the beginning with the architectural design, in additional to the interior design. Our goal was to seamlessly blend modern architecture with a sense of timeless sophistication.

What made our clients so happy is that they achieved their goal to have an architecturally modern yet emotionally warm and cozy interior. The residence is defined by dramatic floor to ceiling windows that invite daylight to move effortlessly throughout the interiors, keeping every room fresh and airy. This natural light was a helpful guide for many of our design elements, layered, intentional, and rich in detail. The exterior introduces cedar siding as a grounding counterpoint to the home’s modern lines, adding natural texture, warmth, and a sense of quiet refinement. This continues our dialogue between contemporary design and timeless appeal, creating a home that feels both striking and deeply rooted in its surroundings.

Inside, the modern design is softened by a sophisticated, enduring sensibility — what we call quiet luxury — layered with color, texture and craftsmanship. Exquisite millwork on the 12 foot ceilings in the kitchen and family room were additional custom touches, along with all of their custom lighting. For this project, lighting enhanced all these architectural moments, and with generous gathering spaces, the home is well-suited for entertaining family and friends. The finished result is a modern residence that feels elevated yet inviting—a home rooted in fabulous colors, light and beauty.
